USA-Market® Balsa Wood Strops are designed for the final polishing and refinement of cutting edges when used with diamond stropping compounds. Balsa is one of the lightest and softest commercial woods, making it highly effective for controlled stropping while maintaining edge geometry.
The polished balsa surface is mounted on a rigid aluminum blank to ensure flatness and stability during use. Compared to softer or flexible stropping materials, balsa provides consistent contact with the edge and helps reduce the risk of convexing when used with abrasive compounds.
These strops are intended for use after sharpening stones and are well suited for applying diamond paste or similar stropping compounds. They allow for gentle correction of micro-defects and smoothing of the edge apex, resulting in improved cutting performance.
Compatible with Apex-style guided sharpening systems such as Apex Edge Pro, TSPROF, Hapstone, and similar platforms. Use light pressure and controlled strokes to avoid damaging the balsa surface.
Set of 4 is recommended for using multiple compounds or grits without cross-contamination.
