This stone uses diamond abrasive on a modern hybrid bond, mounted on a pressed aluminum backing plate. The aluminum base provides rigidity, stability, and a comfortable full-size sharpening format, while the hybrid bond delivers a smooth feel, strong cutting action, and long service life.

Unlike traditional abrasive water stones, this diamond hybrid stone does not require soaking before use. You do not need to leave it in water before sharpening. Simply wet the working surface with water before use and refresh it with water during sharpening.

The stone can be used dry, with water, or with oil. In most cases, water is recommended, following the traditional Japanese water-stone sharpening approach. Oil may also be used when needed, especially for cleaning the surface and helping remove metal loading from the stone.
